Ashness Bridge

.A popular spot in the Lakes is Ashness Bridge and at any well-photographed viewpoint, I would always try to do a different take on it if possible. It had been a day of sun and showers, so I was hopeful for a rainbow in the right place and that meant waiting for the weather gods to help out. Checking the short term rain radar on location is something I always do (if I have phone signal) and I knew there was a break in the rain coming. So that meant getting into position and standing under a brolly in torrential rain for a good twenty minutes. Thankfully soon enough the clouds parted, the sun shined and this resulted in a short-lived but vibrant rainbow over the bridge. Unfortunately, this also seemed to time with the sudden arrival of multiple cars stopping on the bridge and then a group of psychedelically dressed hill walkers passed through too. More patience needed then! Finally, with the scene empty of distractions, I took a couple of shots before the light went and the next squall passed through.
